First Year Seminars

First Year Seminars is an exciting interdisciplinary program offered by Syracuse University’s College of Arts and Sciences, that teaches academic writing skills through innovative courses on various themes.  New students and transfers needing to fulfill first-semester writing requirements of the Liberal Arts Core are invited to register for First Year Seminars (CAS 100).  Each course is led by a highly qualified Humanities Faculty Fellow, and is designed to teach academic writing that is embedded in a thematic framework.  Students enrolling in CAS 100 choose from a diverse array of interdisciplinary topics and enrollment is limited to 18 students per course, which allows instructors to provide an intimate, discussion-based classroom experience.
